The guidelines aim to promote investment in food, agriculture and forestry in the ASEAN region that contributes to regional economic development, food and nutrition security, food safety and equitable benefits, as well as the sustainable use of natural resources. They cover 10 areas of best agricultural practices. The guidelines are primarily aimed at the public sector in ASEAN, including governments and subsidiary agencies and institutions, and regional bodies. They were developed by Grow Asia with support from the ASEAN Secretariat, The Swiss Agency for Development and Corporation (SDC), a World Bank Trust Fund and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), with input from Grow Asia partners and stakeholders through a consultative process.
